Who We Are

Hoops4ALS is dedicated to uniting college basketball coaches, players, and fans to raise awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) – also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. We work to promote ALS advocacy and research, helping those dealing with this horrible disease and supporting the researchers working to find a cure.

Who We Benefit

The ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI) is the world's foremost drug discovery lab focused soley on ALS. As a nonprofit biotech, they operate without regard to profit or politics.

Led by drug development experts and people with ALS, their Watertown, MA based lab is funded by a global network of supporters unified to end ALS. Their mission is to discover and invent effective treatments for ALS. Learn more about ALS and the need for treatments here.

Once my dad was diagnosed with ALS, our family joined the fight to try to raise awareness for ALS, but also to raise money, so hopefully, to one day find a cure to beat this disease.

Adam Wilson, who was on our committee, passed away a few days before the first game. Tom's mom passed away within a week of my brother passing away. Kate lost her father. The Capels lost their father. I think of all these people who we've lost, who all had ALS in common, but they also all had that passion for basketball. This is all for them. We wouldn't be doing what we're doing if it wasn't for them.
